Make Up Monday Ballerina Chic

This Make Up Monday was requested from the photo I showed you in one of my Sunday Summaries, it was one of the first theatrical looks that I learnt at college and is used on Ballerinas when they are performing on stage!

As the original look is actually really heavy due to it needing to be seen from a distance I decided to tone it down slightly to make it a more wearable look!

This is the original photo....sequins are optional!

This look works for everyone and you can use any colour you like, everything you need should already be in your make up bag, the only extras you will need are coloured eye shadows (I have used purple and gold), gel eye liner and an optional extra is false lashes (depending on how dramatic you want your look to be!)

To see the tutorial for this look take a look at my video!
Happy Make Up Monday!

Sunday Summary!

This week has been jam packed!
College has been full on and I feel like I have projects, assignments and homework coming out of my ears! This week I learnt 1920's style make up which included covering up the eyebrows so you can redraw them higher and a basic bridal make up (that was a little bit like teaching grandma to suck eggs but hey, its all good practice!). Unfortunately I don't have any piccys for you as my camera broke so they are on someone else's!

My first weigh in since rejoining weight watchers was a huge success as I lost 5lbs!! Whoop Whoop! That's a great start and sets me well on my way to hitting my goal!

On Wednesday I went along to Bristol Fashion Week which was amazing, we had the best seats and I got to meet Andrew Barton as we were leaving! For more info take a look at my post and you can also see my vlog!

The past couple of days have been manic too, I did my last Wedding make up of the official wedding season this weekend, so will have a quieter few months now. I went to see my friend to meet her baby Amelia who was a week old and absolutely gorgeous and then went out for another friends birthday last night! I have been shopping with my mum today, and am now officially shattered! So am crashed out on the sofa!

I hope you have all had a good week and enjoyed your weekend!

Bristol Fashion Week!

I was extremely excited last week when I was invited to attend Bristol Fashion Week at the Mall, Cribbs Causeway! We had second row seats with an amazing view of every outfit, handbag, stilleto and gorgeous model...It's a hard life eh?!
With bucksfizz, mini cupcakes and goodie bags galore it was any fashionistas dream!

The event was commentated by Mark Hayes and Andrew Barton and the show included high street stores including Republic, John Lewis, Marks & Spencers, Wallis, La Senza, French Connection, River Island, Kurt Geiger, H&M, Lipsy....the list goes on!

Through out the whole show every fashion trend of Autumn/Winter was covered to show you how to wear this seasons must haves! Masculine Tailoring, Heritage, Fetish, Colour Blocking, 1960's and 70's are all key trends that you will be seeing every where! And when it comes to hair, according to Andrew Barton himself, the bigger the better!

There are still tickets available for some of the shows so if you are in Bristol why not grab the girls and head over to the Mall for an amazing couple of hours, Bristol Fashion week is running from 21st - 25th September with up to four shows every day! For more information or to purchase tickets go to mallcribbs.com.

If you would like to see my vlog with videos of the show itself, what I spoke to Andrew Barton about and what was in my goodie bag take a look at my video here!

Converse Nail Design

Last week in my Nailphilia post I said that I had kept back one photo which I was going to do a tutorial on this week, well here it is!

This is the original photo that I took
and here is my version!

I have changed it a little bit to make it my own by putting a star on the thumb nail.
You could use any colour as your base for this design, I have used cyan blue 294 from Barry M, a white for the tip and then white and black nail art paints for the details.

To see how I created this design take a look at my tutorial video!

Make Up Monday - Amazing Eye Lash Curlers

This is a bit of a random Make Up Monday but I really wanted to tell you about these eye lash curlers!

I don't know if I am completely behind on this discovery but I actually think I may have found the best eye lash curlers ever!!

When I visited my sister recently I was looking in her make up bag and found these curlers which have a spring at the front which when you are using them you can feel that they really are getting a firm grip on your eyelashes! The result is great, my lashes were curled more than normal and they actually stay that way!

They are priced at around £6.00 and come in gold and silver, I purchased mine at Boots but I'm sure they will be available at other Kiss stockists too.

So if you are in need of some new eye lash curlers I seriously recommend these!

Happy Make Up Monday!

Sunday Summary

This week has gone by so fast! That must mean I have had fun?!
Well I have actually, this was my first proper week at college and they got us stuck in straight away with the make up side of things, so far I have learnt a straight theatrical make up, Ballerina Make up and I also learnt how to paint a face to look like a skeleton!
Me made up as a Ballerina!
One of the lovely ladies in my class, Holly, for my first attempt I don't think its too bad!

I joined weight watchers this week, I had been trying to follow it myself at home but decided to join a class for a bit of extra support! Will let you know how I get next week at weigh in!
Nothing else exciting has happened this week but I have been invited as press to Bristol Fashion Week this coming week so I'm really looking forward to that! Will share all with you next week!

I hope you have all had a great weekend!

Nailphilia Exhibition

I mentioned in my Sunday summary that I had popped in to take a look at the Nailphilia exhibition in London last weekend and I wanted to share some pics with you (this is a very photo heavy post!).

Nails are one of the hottest accessories you can have at the moment and the Nailphilia exhibition shows just how far you can take this trend! With nail technicians such as Marian Newman, Sophy Robson, Sam Biddle, to name just a few, showcasing their amazing talent you will definitely be grabbing your nail varnishes and dressing up you're nails!

Here are some photos from the exhibition,

100 issues of Scratch magazine covers were displayed showing how nail art has grown over the years!
There was a wall covered in designs, which were all amazing, these were a couple of my favourites (I have kept one back for a tutotial next week so keep your eyes peeled for that!)

These two tribal inspired pieces are by Sophie Harris-Greenslade, the detail in these nails is amazing!

These nails were designed for and used by Mel B (above) and Jessie J (below)

This jacket was also designed for Jessie J, the outer shoulder are all made up of false nails along with the detailing on the front of the jacket!
And this one may look familiar? This is the nail design that Jessie J wore on a More cover shoot that I took inspiration from in one of my tutorials!
And here is my lovely sister listening and learning about nail art!

See I told you it was photo heavy! If you are in London and love nail art this exhibition really is worth going to, just go along to DegreeArt.com's Execution Room, 12A Vyner Street, London, E2 9DG, for more information you can contact the lovely Ryan who has put the exhibition together by email Ryan@DegreeArt.com or call 02089800395.

I hope you like the pictures and that you get a chance to go, the exhibition is on until September 26th and is open 12 - 6 every day.

Sunday Summary

Some of you may have noticed I have been MIA recently! Well there is good reasoning for this I promise!
Life has been a little hectic over the last couple of weeks and the time has flown by, which meant that I haven't had time to sit down and blog, some of you will know that nine months ago I had a huge car accident that left me with some nasty injuries which meant I couldn't work, this wasn't necessarily a bad thing as it gave me the chance to set up my blog and YouTube channel and up until recently I had been posting most days, but as most of you know life just gets in the way sometimes! So I decided that I would do a Sunday Summary post each week to keep you all up to date with what's going on with me!

This week I started back at college where I am studying Theatrical & Media Make Up, the course is a year and from just my induction day I can tell it's going to be an amazing course! We were asked to come up with a theme and design a make up to represent it, the group I was in chose 'games' as our theme and I ended up being painted as a connect 4!
The worst bit was when I washed it off my face was stained purple in that pattern!! I'm really excited about this course, and I will keep you posted on work I do as I go along!
It's mainly down to going back to college plus a few other bits that I haven't been blogging but once I'm back in a routine and more settled I will be back!
Other things from this week are I went to see Dirty Dancing at the hippodrome, It was good but I think I prefer the film, which I am now going to have to buy so I can watch it to compare!
Also I went to London last weekend to visit my sister and we popped along to the Nailphilia exhibition in Bethnal Green, I will put up a post about this week, but if you get a chance to pop in its worth a look if you love nail art!
I hope you have all had a great weekend!
